ELASTIFRET listens to how you play, then suggests something to try.
Anything at all, including bug reports
Why does the app want the microphone?
To hear you play. That is the whole app. iOS asks the first time you record, and if you decline, recording will not work.
You can grant it later in the iOS Settings app, under Privacy & Security, then Microphone.
What happens to my recordings?
They are analysed on your phone and then discarded. No audio is uploaded. What stays behind is a set of numbers about the notes and timings, stored on the device. The privacy policy has the full account.
Why does a Take have to be 60 seconds?
Shorter than that and there is not enough playing to draw anything reliable from. Patterns need room to repeat before they count as patterns.
Reps are the short option. They start at 20 seconds and have no upper limit.
Why is my Soundprint empty?
A Soundprint is built from three Takes. One Take is a snapshot and could be an off day. Three starts to show what you tend to do.
Until then the app is collecting. After the third, the Soundprint appears and updates with every Take after it.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-in, no password, and no profile. Open the app and play.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app. Everything it stored goes with it, because nothing was kept anywhere else.
The app is not hearing my guitar
Worth checking, roughly in this order:
- Microphone permission is granted in iOS Settings
- Nothing is covering the microphone at the bottom edge of the phone, including a case
- The phone is close enough, a few feet at most, with an acoustic pointed roughly at it
- An electric is going through an amp that the phone can hear
- Headphones are on, so the backing track is not bleeding into the recording
- No other app is holding the microphone, such as a call or a recorder left running
If it still does not pick you up, send an email with your phone model and iOS version.
Backing tracks
The backing tracks in the app are licensed for this use. Some of them were made with AI music tools.
